So today I woke up with body aches, headache, runny nose, cough, sore throat. I thought I had a cold but later today I had a stomachache and a fever which prompted me to go to Instacare and see a doctor. The doctor pretty much told me that it sounds like flu symptoms and since right now they're seeing the H1N1 flu I had 2 choices. I could get tested and find out in a day or two if I have that kind of a flu. Or I could just stay home for a week since the period you're contagious is 24 hours before symptoms and 6 days after. I was hoping that I don't have it and I could return to school/work and not have to miss a whole week. So I did get tested and will find out on Monday if I have it or not.
But I was wondering how many of you have been diagnosed with it and how did it run its course. I already seem to be feeling a little bit better since my fever is down with some tylenol but I'm still having the body aches and headache, loss of appetite, sore throat, and cough which are pretty bothersome.I did get a seasonal flu vaccine but our health department doesn't have the shot yet for H1N1, just the mist. And the mist is not recommended for people with chronic conditions.

Hope you feel better soon. How has your illness affected your BGs?

They've been up a little bit but not consistently higher. I did put a higher pattern for a while but I got a hypo eventually. So, I'm just watching it. It could be, of course, that I'm not eating much.

I was diagnosed last week with H1N1 and my BG went through the roof .... started extra bolus and got it back down to normal levels....TDD was double my normal amount and being new on the pump was a bit scared to give myself that much ,but for now it seems to be leveling off...doc told me I may have elevated BG for up to 2 weeks after I start feeling better...but for now I'm still giving extra bolus to compensate for my highs, but not as much as last week

If you are going high and then doing correction boluses, you would probably be better off increasing your basal rates. That way you can avoid or at least flatten the highs.
Of course, I am not medically trained and am just offering you something to decide for yourself.

I'm not sure I have the flu but all week I've been sick.

My fasting BG has been around 150 - 160 with a 140% basal rate and when I bolus for a meal it's almost like I forgot to bolus,
the amount of insulin needed to correct after a meal has been about 50% of the original bolus. This is the first time I've had
some kinda bug in 10 or more years.

Last night was the first time in a week my BG has been less than 120 and my TDD yesterday was about 50% higher than normal.

I had my normal breakfast this morning and my BG usually peaks at 125-130, my high BG alarm is going off right now and it's only
been an hour sense I ate. I will be lucky if I can get it turned around before it goes over 250. I'm not use to doing corrections
an hour after a meal bolus.

I have used two different sensors in the past week and both of them have been outstanding. They have tracked to 200+
without any problems and most of the time my sensors start to flat-line around 170-180. I wounder if there is some
physiological difference when your sick that helps the performance of the sensor in some way. ????

It's been so long sense I've been sick with a cold or virus I had forgotten how bad it could be. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thud.gif)

I think reaction to every cold/virus is individual. It turned out I don't have the H1N1, just some other viral infection. My BS have stabilized, I hardly ever need to do correction or use a temp basal. That's despite not quite recovering from it - I still have sore throat, some coughing, laryngitis, and some headache. So, we gotta adjust as things change.
