I have been invited to a three hour Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival tomorrow. I have never been to such a thing and
have no idea of what to expect. Has any one been to such a thing? How did you bolus? I know I should use an extended
bolus but I have no idea of how much folks eat at these things. Recently I have gone easily high and easily low. Any
suggestions would be welcome. I will avoid the wine as I know that I don't know how to calculate for that.

Every Labor Day, there is a huge foodfest in downtown Denver they call 'the Taste of Colorado'. There's a couple of hundred restaurants that have booths set up, and you can get samples of their food.

I always just stop at a booth, get something, estimate the carbs (not simple) and bolus appropriately - I hope.

Enjoy a glass of wine! The alcohol offsets the carbs in the wine, so I never bolus for the glass or two I have at those things.

Have a good time - I'm sure it will be a lot classier than the Taste of Colorado, and who cares if you happen to spike some.

You should probably do a dual wave bolus and you can cancel if you go low. I never avoid the wine. Just went on a Napa Valley wine tour last month and by the fourth winery I lost track of how much I tasted. Had no problem, but then again I have wine every night with dinner.

Thanks guys. I went, took a three hour extended bolus about 15 minutes before going in and then cancelled the rest when I left
after two hours. (BG was 154 and had IOB). I ate what I wanted but skipped the wine as I would rather eat carbs than drink them, plus I was driving.

It was wise to skip the wine if you were driving. As far as drinking carbs, a 5 ounce glass of red wine has 5.5 grams of carb. I never bolus for wine.
