Hi,
My Endo has me on a new inject able drug called Victoza. Does anybody know about this drug? At first you inject (with pre-filled pen)0.6 mg once a day for one week, then 1.2 mg per day from then on. I have always had trouble keeping my BG down, now it is always down below 100. I am eating less, and am adjusting my pump to give me less insulin, both basil and bolus. I find my self correcting for lows quite often as I am learning my new pump settings. I've not had an A1C since I started using Victoza, but I'm sure it will be below 6.9 for the first time! The bad news is I am having trouble getting my insurance to approve it, and it cost about $300.00 for 2 pens (that's about 1 month supply). I was just wandering if anybody has used it, or knows about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Celebrate 2.gif) Gregg -------------------- Gregg C.

However she is a Type 2. As far as I know Victoza is a Type 2 drug. Also, someone else mentioned that it's now a generic. -------------------- Arlene S.

Victoza is a (GLP)-1 receptor agonist. It works by increasing the amount of insulin that your body produces.
If your c-peptied is low, like most Type I...it will not have any effect. I think there ia a user group on: http://www.tudiabetes.org/group/victoza -------------------- John

I also believe it causes the body to slow down digestion which is not friendly if your using insulin, it causes hypoglycemic issues. If your body cannot make insulin then it stands to reason that Victoza® is not going to work and slowing down digestion causes timing problems with today's faster insulin, switching to HUMULIN. ®.
