I got my original UltraMini, the first silver one with no download capability, by calling Minimed and asking for it. I then got a purple one when the colors were introduced. I got a green one the same way, probably by using an alternate e-mail address. I then got a pink one by using the coupon that came with my first UltraLink. Did any other Minimed pumpers get that coupon when the UltraLink was released? It was good for an Ultra meter, even an UltraSmart (but not another UltraLink!). You just had to bring it to the pharmacy and pick out your meter, no prescription, no sending away for it. Just sometime this year I got a blue Mini by signing up for dLife, I think. I was already a member but I used another e-mail to join again. I gave my pink Mini away to a friend for his diabetic cat and now wish I hadn't. I still want another pink one plus the black, to complete my collection. I keep an UltraLink in my backpack at all times and that's what I use during the day at work. I have my other UltraLink at home, usually on my desk. I keep an UltraSmart by my bed and I have one of the Minis at work. I took the Mini out of my backpack awhile ago for some reason and have to put it back. I've left my main meter at work twice and then got on a bus to visit my sister. I had to buy an Ultra2 the first time that happened. The second time I did that I had the Mini in my bag and that saved me from having to buy another. My sister said I should just leave a meter at her house but I always forget. I think the current free Mini offer will let you print out a coupon to bring to the pharmacy but you also need a prescription from your doctor to get it. I got one of the coupons from Lifescans web site. I filled it out and took it to my doctor for the script. She gave me one from a rather large supply she had, a blue one, didn't know they came in colors. Lifescans is always giving them away, as mentioned- they make their money on the strips. I now have 2 minis(black & blue) I like them because I can just slip one in my pocket & can test whenever I need to. At home I have an ultra smart & an Accu-Chek complete ( I like the self contained strip cartridge). I also have a drawer full of old meters of various types, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can donate them? Just love the forum... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Celebrate 2.gif) Gregg Old but current and working meters can be donated to insulin-pumpers.org. They are a not for profit charity and distribute them to people without insurance. They need to be models that still have strips available (otherwise they are not useful). I'm so glad you love our forum! Linda B. -------------------- Linda

I don't think insulin-pumpers.org will accept used meters, only new in the box. -------------------- --

Anybody know where you can get one of those coupons for a mini? I still lug by ultralink with me wherever I go. It's as much a piece of me as my pump. Thanks, JD

Thanks, Arlene, but I guess I answered the questions wrong as they responded I did not qualify for a free meter! I'll check at the endo when I'm there in a couple months.

JD It helps if you say that you are NOT a current Lifescan One Touch meter customer and that you test the maximum # of times per day. -------------------- --

It helps if you say that you are NOT a current Lifescan One Touch meter customer and that you test the maximum # of times per day. I also had been refused. I HATE to tell a lie, but it is crazy that current one touch customers can't get a free meter once in awhile. They are making enough money from us! So I went back in and gave false answers. I hope nothing bad happens to me as a result (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bike.gif) Linda B. -------------------- Linda

I didn't want to lie either but I wanted a new meter so I went back and said I was using and Accuchek meter. I have one and some strips so I will use it and make it true. -------------------- Arlene S.

Linda, In my quest to get one of every color I actually filled out the form in my cat's name once. When I got to the end and saw that this offer was just for a coupon (that required a doctor's prescription) and not an actual meter sent directly in the mail, I aborted the request. I see my CDE in August and if I remember I'm going to ask for a pink or black Mini, the two colors I'm missing. The only problem is that she has the meters in her office and my appointments are in another building so actually getting the meter from her may never happen. -------------------- --
