I have a minimed paradigm 722 insulin pump. I am trying to figure out what the 'ideal' setting would be for my insulin to carb ratio.
I noticed if my blood sugar level is normal, and I eat something with 20G of carbs, and I enter 20G into my insulin pump, I check my blood sugar a short time later such as 20 minutes, and blood sugar is within the target range (100) and then about 1 hr later, I notice it going below the target range, and going later lower. So I suspect my insulin to carb ratio needs adjusted. Anyone have any suggestions for fixing this? |

First you have to make sure your basal setting is correct.
If you skip that meal, does your blood sugar stay level? If your basal is right, then you are correct that your insulin to carb ratio is wrong. If I were you I would change it to 22 and see what happens. I would then continue to increase it by 1 point at a time until it is correct. You should buy the book 'Pumping Insulin' by John Walsh. You can get it from Amazon.com. It will tell you how to make all your adjustments. Linda B. -------------------- Linda
