I only use Caerlink®...My Endo just runs SG reports using CareLink pro® and my password, she
has only looked at my meter data maybe twice in the past 3 years. She always runs a pump settings
and a trends report to place in my file. I also no longer keep a food log...I still use a CalorieKing book,
and several mobile apps including GoMeals.

I do write foot notes in my CalorieKing book does that count.

I no longer write anything down. I enter everything in my pump and upload to Carelink.

My Pump: mm 522

I bought the OneTouch software & cable a few years ago, and I upload my meter readings the same time that I upload to Carelink. About the only time I write anything down is when I change sensors, change basal rates and insulin to carb ratios, change batteries, etc.

No need to write down BG readings - they're all stored in my meter, and sometimes I forget to enter them into my pump.

I stopped using the One-Touch software when I began uploading my meter to Carelink. Now I only use the UltraLink so all my numbers get uploaded to Carelink.

I don't think I could use the OT software if I wanted to; it's probably not Mac compatible.

I find that the only way I REALLY know what's going on is if I keep a hand written log. I don't do it very often, but if I feel like I've been having problems, then the Carelink and One Touch reports don't give me enough information.

I designed a simple spreadsheet that gives me space to log what I ate, whether or not I over rode the pump, when I ate glucose tablets, etc. in addition to my BGs. Without that information, the pure numbers on the computer reports don't really help me solve the problem.

I usually only use CareLink. When I see my endo, I don't bother printing the reports; I just tell him my userid and password so that he can look at them.

On the other hand, when I see the nurse at the clinic I bring a printout of several reports because she isn't used to using CareLink and is more comfortable with the paper reports.

When I saw the dietician, I brought a hand written food log. She wanted to see the details of what I was eating and how I was counting the carbs for each item. CareLink does not allow you to record this level of detail, so for this I needed to create a handwritten report. It was also easier to record the meal BGs and bolus amounts on this log. This is the probably the first time in more than 10 years that I had any sort of handwritten log.

My endo downloads my pump and prints the results for me every three months. We review them together and I take the print out home and most of the time never look at it again. I don't write anything down or download to carelink. I occasionally review my meter results. Most of my highs or lows have obvious reasons.

Before endo visit and when having off readings I print off a copy of a spreadsheet and write down everything for a few weeks. Kind of hesitant to admit this, but need info from you all seeming experts: i have never used CareLink.
Am finally intrigued enough. but my question is HOW?
Also, would it show all the numbers from all the readings I take with Contour Linki even if did not bolus after?

canuk chic-

You need the Carelink USB from Medtronic; they use to give them away for a bit, but I think they charge now for them. Try to get a free one from them if you can as I don't believe they're cheap. I recall seeing them at the MM store and they were around $50. US. I'm 99% certain they are at the MM store. It's also posible your Dr. can do it for you if you don't have the funds right now but not all Docs have them; mostly those that specialize in diabetes and have a lot of MM patients.
If you get the USB, then you just go on their site to read your pump. I'm not familiar with contour linki (I guess it's a BG meter) but if you can download those to your computer, then you can most likely download them to the Carelink program. I have several one touch meters and I download all of those to Carelink and they are incorporated in the charts on Carelink.

It's fairly easy to do and they are useful reports to review, especially if your experiencing problems!

Good Luck!!

Peter explained how you get into Carelink and get the reports.

ALL BGs entered into the pump, regardless of whether it is through the link or entered manually are included in the Carelink reports.
