My Pump: Paradigm 754 Veo

Last night while running I got the "Battery Error" on my Veo pump.
It also says "a button has been pressed for more than three seconds". None of the buttons work except the down button. Thus, I am not even able to turn the Battery Error alarm off! I've tried replacing the battery and the alarm comes back.
I expect it to be some kind of shortcut issue on the buttons so they are all being pressed continuously.

So...unless anyone here has a great idea, I guess I have to ask MiniMed for a new Veo!

And I have to re-invent my settings; they are all stored in the device and I can't see them...
Last time I did a backup at Carelink was a couple of years ago - since no versions work on my current computer (Win7, 64-bit, non-compatible with Carelink).

I have a 64 bit Windows 7 computer and Carelink works just fine for me. I even use Firefox, not Internet Explorer.

Well, I can make Carelink work, but not the USB stick for transferring the data. And Carelink Pro doesn't work, same problem there.
Medtronic told me they are working on it, but so far there's no driver working in 64-bit.
Unless you have one...please? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I actually don't remember how I got it to work. Maybe I use the 32 bit browser version? Except I use Firefox and think I only have one version installed. I know I have two versions of Internet Explorer. Sometimes I choose the wrong one for a site and I get a message saying it won't work in 64 bit and to use 32. I know that the payroll service we use at work has to run under the 32 bit Internet Explorer.

Hmm. I can run any browser in 32-bit mode instead of 64-bit on my system, but I still can't make the "CareLink USB" stick work.
Medtronic support told me it's impossible, until they've made a USB driver that supports a 64-bit system.

Are you sure that your Win7 version is 64-bit?

My computer is definitely 64 bit running Win7. I am not sure that I am running the 64 bit version of Win7 - how would I know that?

In any event, I have no trouble with carelink.

Thanks for the reminder to back up my pump. It had been 2 months since the last time I did it.

I'm not sure if I understand you, but this is how you can check your system:
* right click on "My computer", click "Properties"
* at the top it will say "Windows version" (for example "Windows 7 Enterprise" or "Windows 7 Home")
* a little further down it will say "System type" (for example "64-bit Operating System" or "32-bit Operating System")

There is a 32 bit version of Internet Explorer 8 in Windows 7 that can be found in the "Programs Files x86" folder on your Local C: drive
CareLink should run using the 32 bit IE...

Win 7. 64 bit comes with both versions of IE 8...I don't think Windows will even allow you to remove one of them.

Then I am definitely running Windows 7 Home Premium on a 64 bit OS. I run Carelink under Google Chrome (even though it gives me a warning) and I have no problems.
There were problems several years ago when you last backed up your pump. Carelink was updated in the spring of this year.

It doesn't matter if I run Internet Explorer in 32-bit or 64-bit. I've tried both.
It tells me that I need a driver to be able to use Carelink USB. After installing the driver, it tries to connect to the pump, and then it stops because it cannot get an answer.
I've double-checked the serial number.

This is almost exactly how it appears in Carelink Pro as well. It installs the driver, but it doesn't manage to download anything.

According to Medtronic support (by phone) it will not work on a 32-bit system. They are working on a 64-bit version, but that's what they told me 2 years ago. A month ago they told me the same again, so I guess nothing happened?

That's strange. To me, the problems have not changed at all.
I've tried Carelink Personal with IE 32-bit, IE 64-bit and with Chrome.
I've tried Carelink Pro (which is independent of internet browsers).
All with the same result: No connection.

Try deleting the java driver for the USB and reloading it using the 32 bit IE.
If you have trouble finding the driver... run regedit and search Medtronic...you will find the driver.

I had trouble the first time I ran Carelink on a Win7 machine but after removing and reinstalling
the USB driver it was good.

Wish you luck...;-)

Thanks,
looks like it may have helped, at least now it starts to download data from the pump.
It stops after 11% every time though. So far I've tried 5 times.
Any more tricks needed, guru JohnG? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If the battery is low in your pump this can be a problem, also try placing it next to the USB.

If you have any kind of optional feature running like a temp basal or extended bolus it will not up load, the little round symbol
must not be showing on the pump screen.

I find that if I haven't uploaded to carelink in a long time it can take forever and it has stalled at a certain point several times. I just keep trying and eventually it works. I'm still at work and I hope I remember to upload when I get home tonight because it's been about a month since I last did it.

I'm 1cm from the USB and have fresh batteries, no alarms, no temp basals or anything special...
Since the Veo is destroyed I'm trying with the old 722 pump, which hasn't been uploaded since August 2009.

After crashing at 11% multiple times tonight, I'm almost ready to give up forever (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I just checked my computer and it says I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium with a 64 bit operating system. I just did a Carelink upload and other than taking a really long time (at least 15-20 minutes), it worked fine. I had last uploaded on August 14. I also have my Carelink USB plugged into a USB hub, not directly into one of the computer's USB ports.

Don't give up forever, just wait until you have your new Veo. It could be that having too much data, or data that is too old is messing it up.

I agree. I had to return my original 722 within a few weeks of getting it because I couldn't upload anything to Carelink. After trying multiple times I called Minimed and they said the data in my pump was corrupted. The pump itself worked fine but I just couldn't get the info out of it. The new pump had no problems.
