I do not appreciate having a post edited / deleted / or anything else without receiving some explanation. Certainly not when there were no rules or guidelines disrespected. FYI to anyone reading this - When a reply is deleted it is as if it never happened. RUDE!! The disrespect I am feeling is applied to whoever chose to delete a reply and did not bother to reach out to me and explain it. I do not appreciate being edited by passive-aggressive action.
I do not need any Assistance in this regard; I just wish to put a heads up out there. Some Feedback would be nice, and maybe others would like to know the reason/action/explanation. |

This has happened to me several times as well- it indicates that the forums are only open to those who think exactly the same and agree with the moderators- other points of view need not apply. It also indicates a distinct lack of courage in those who do the secret editing. I don't blame you for feeling insulted- these forums are no different from any other. Now watch this reply disappear. |

QUOTE(karen) I do not appreciate having a post edited / deleted / or anything else without receiving some explanation. I recently participated in a thread that took an emotional and almost aggressively hostile turn, and several subsequent posts quoted and responded to that. The entire affected portion of the thread was removed, including those responses that were perfectly reasonable, and the thread was closed. On reflection, I decided that the moderation was a reasonable way to maintain the civil and helpful tone of IPF. But I agree with Karen that a prompt explanation to each affected poster is an important part of the process. In my case, I received a reasonable explanation via PM but it was about 18 hours after the fact. QUOTE(Manxman) the forums are only open to those who think exactly the same and agree with the moderators I haven't seen that yet. I've seen sensible back-and-forth on matters of opinion when discussed in a level-headed way, and I've seen frank corrections to errors of fact. I don't mind if rants and errors are pruned away --- but again let me agree with Karen that prompt explanations would seem to be an important part of the process. No worries folks, I received a reply and explanation and accepted them in kind. Thanks for the replies. I totally understand when a thread needs some moderation and closure, and appreciate the efforts and know from experience that it's not an easy job. Carry on, and please enjoy doing your thing everyone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
