I was just approved for a Ping that comes with a One Touch Smart meter. I currently use an accuchek compact and just received a new supply of strips. Does anyone know if the insurance company will provide new strips this soon or if I will need to wait for the current meter strips to run out?

Can't help you with that but I was just wondering what is a Ping? I have a One Touch Ulrtra Smart meter.

When I received my Medtronic pump last year, the trainer had me switch from my AccuChek Aviva meter to a OneTouch in anticipation of the UltraLink meter. (I have since switched back, but that's a different story.)

I also had recently gotten an insurance-covered batch of strips and the insurance denied the new batch of OneTouch strips as "being too soon". I explained to the pharmacist (at Walgreens) what was happening. They called my insurance, told them that the new strips were for use with my new pump and the insurance company issued an override which allowed Walgreens to fill the new prescription early.

Of course, YMMV, but that;s my experience.

Thanks TedM, I use Walgreens for now but I am going to be forced to use Medco after this filling otherwise Medco won't pay for anything. I am required to use mail order prescriptions after to fills of a medicine or supply.

A Ping is a pump made by Animas. From what I have seen, I believe that it is an upgrade from their 2020. When it is matched with the one touch it can calculate and give the bolus if you take it within 15 minutes of doing a Bg reading. I hear it works well together but obviously tedm had a problem with his.

I just want to clarify, TedM did not have a PING, he has a Medtronic pump. The meter Ted was talking about is not a remote control for the pump the way yours is. Two different situations. I have not heard of anyone having trouble with the Ping Meter.
