Lately, for some reason, my after meal BS are incredibly high, in the mid to upper 200s usually. I bolus before I eat, 15-20 minutes and still I have the same problem. I try to have my sugar at or below 150 before I eat. Could my basal need to be adjusted perhaps? I don't know.
I would have no idea if your basal settings are correct.
What is your BG target...before meals and does your BG get back to this point most of the time between meals?
Your BG is spiking 100 points and this probably has little to do with your basal settings.
If my BG is 150 when I bolus and eat it can be hard to stay under 200. I will usually not eat until I can get my BG within
my pre-meal target but I have a flexible schedule...I eat based on my meter readings.
Most of my meal BG spiks are driven by the type of food and volume. lowering my carb intake and type's of carbs will help.
The list of foods that contain carbs that will not spike my BG over 140 to 150 is very small.
Most of my meals raise my BG 40-60 points so itís important for me to start around 90-110 so my BG will only spend a short
amount of time above 140.
